New gas power plant includes measures to protect water supply

How much water will AECI's new power plant use?

AECI's new power plant, which will be operated for intermediate generation, will require an annual average of about 1,000 gallons of water per minute. Water is used in the various systems in the plant, including the cooling tower, makeup and boiler makeup water.

Where will AECI obtain the water for the plant?

Sufficient water supply is a key component of the plant. AECI has reviewed available water sources and anticipates that sufficient quantities will be available from the Wilcox aquifer, which is available at the plant site.

How will storm-water runoff and water used at the plant be controlled?

All wastewater will be controlled in accordance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
