Member energy use continues to grow

AECI's member systems are growing, and AECI is preparing to meet that increased need for low-cost energy. AECI projects cooperative members' energy and peak demand needs will continue to increase about 2 percent a year for the next 10 years. The cooperative has a resource plan that integrates diverse resources to meet growing member load, including energy efficiency, to ensure an economical and reliable wholesale power supply for member systems.

National electricity demand is following a similar path. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, by 2030 Americans will consume about 30 percent more electricity than they do today.

Member systems are growing at a strong and steady pace, driving AECI's need to build new generation to ensure a reliable and economical power supply for member systems.
