Longtime Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. employee Len Hand recently retired as inventory control supervisor. Hand began his career at AECI in 1974 as a temporary laborer at the cooperative's New Madrid Power Plant in southeast Missouri. He spent nearly nine years at the plant, before moving to AECI Headquarters in Springfield.
Hand's career highlights include working on many changes that greatly improved inventory accuracy at both New Madrid and Thomas Hill Energy Center, AECI's power plant near Moberly. Better technology and information provided the tools for efficiently tracking inventory, but Hand said many individuals contributed to AECI's improved inventory control.
Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. is owned by and provides wholesale power to six regional and 51 local electric cooperative systems in Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and southeast Iowa that serve more than 800,000 customers. AECI's mission is to provide an economical and reliable power supply and support services to its members with the vision of being the nation's lowest-cost wholesale power supplier. AECI is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
