FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dave Eyler of New Madrid has retired after six years with Associated Electric Cooperative, working at its New Madrid Power Plant as an engineer.
Within the engineering and maintenance planning department, Eyler worked on a number of projects, wrote specifications and proposals and oversaw installation of new equipment. He particularly worked with the plant’s generators and precipitator boxes, which collect fly ash from flue gas as it leaves the boilers. He supervised the replacement of wiring in the precipitators, as well as routine inspection and maintenance of the equipment.
Another big project was replacing the plant’s two excitation units, which act as big battery power supplies connected to the turbine-generator’s field that controls the generation of electricity. He also helped engineer replacement of the conveyor control panel system used in the coal yard to distribute coal.
Before joining Associated, Eyler worked in heavy industry, including 25 years at Spectrulite Consortium, an aluminum and magnesium processing company in Illinois. He is a 1970 graduate of Missouri University of Science and Technology at Rolla with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Associated Electric Cooperative (Associated) is owned by and provides wholesale power to six regional and 51 local electric cooperative systems in Missouri, southeast Iowa and northeast Oklahoma that serve more than 850,000 customers. Associated’s mission is to provide an economical and reliable power supply and support services to its members. Associated is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
