Waste management
Contractors are required to submit a material and waste management and disposal plan. This plan is to
include a list of all materials to be brought on site and material safety data sheets for all listed materials.
This plan will also indicate which materials contain toxic chemicals pursuant to Section 313 of the
Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act and the quantity of each toxic chemical to be
brought on site. At the end of the project, contractors will provide the quantity of those toxic
chemicals used on the project and their disposition (e.g., used in paint, used as lubricant, present
in construction materials, disposed off-site in landfill, etc).
For materials which are brought on site in bulk quantities or are highly hazardous chemicals,
a plan for how the material will be managed while on site will be required. (Example: spill
prevention measures, security.)
Contractors also will be required to identify any hazardous waste(s) of any kind that would be generated
as a result of work to be performed and how those hazardous waste(s) will be managed. Example: Describe
how waste(s) will be collected, containerized, disposed of, where disposed of, where empty product
containers shall go, and other as applicable.
Contractors also will be required to specify how any unused material(s) that remains on site upon
completion of work will be managed.
